Lawyer

Cody is a member of the Tzeachten First Nation and grew up within the Tzeachten community. Cody graduated from UBC Law and, before starting C Hall Law Group, practiced as a business lawyer at a top Aboriginal law firm in Canada. 

Cody’s practice ranges from providing legal advice related to corporate and commercial matters, commercial real estate, and settlement agreements, including corporate structuring, asset, share, and land transactions and other matters tied to the economic development of First Nations. Cody advises on the structure and re-designing of First Nations’ corporate entities such as partnerships, corporations, societies and trusts. He negotiates on behalf of First Nations with private companies, Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments, and drafts and advises on agreements from the negotiation stage to the final agreement. His real estate practice encompasses all aspects of land transactions: acquisitions, financing, development approvals, sales, leasing and additions to reserve. Cody also works very closely with First Nations on governance issues, including drafting and advising on First Nation constitutions, laws, policies, regulations and codes.

 

YVAN GUY LAROCQUE

Yvan loves working with communities, businesses, and entrepreneurs, providing innovative legal solutions and services to help them achieve their goals. He believes in working collaboratively with clients by responding to their needs in an efficient, friendly, and down-to-earth manner.

Yvan works with entrepreneurs and businesses in various sectors and at various stages of development. He advises, and negotiates on behalf of, Indigenous-owned businesses and governments in the development of meaningful business ventures. He often advises on corporate structuring and reorganizations, as well as governance and policy development. As well, Yvan is always interested in working with leaders and entrepreneurs in high-growth businesses and industries. He often advises businesses on start-up and financing, privacy and technology, corporate and commercial, and M+A matters.

In Yvan’s early practice, Yvan worked as a lawyer at one of Canada’s top 10 boutique business law firms. He is also a Practicing Professional Instructor at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law where he teaches Corporate and Commercial Law.
